The Typing/Programming Challenge

5 Hours of Extra Typing/Programming Practice

In completing the typing/programming challenge, you can use any program of your choice.    However, typing or programming practice during student time in the computer lab does not count towards time spent for this challenge, even if you decide to use the same program used by the school.

TYPING/PROGRAMMING CHALLENGE TIME LOG:  Track your time on the linked form.  You need 5 total hours (300 minutes) of typing or programming practice to complete this challenge.

How to do this challenge:

Step 1:  Download the Typing /Programming Challenge Time Log.   (word version)

Step 2:  Practice your typing skills through a typing program or by learning to program!

Step 3:  Record your time on the Typing/Programming Challenge Time Log until you reach a minimum of 300 minutes (5 hours).

Step 4:  Once you have reached 5 hours, have a parent/guardian sign and date the log.

Step 5:  Make a copy of your signed log and keep it safe.

Step 6:  Mark the Typing/Programming Challenge complete on your Final Submission Form by the deadline.

Step 7:  Submit your Typing/Programming Challenge Time Log through 1 of the following 3 ways:

  1. Email it to AcademicChallenge (at)
  2. Give it to your teacher, who will forward it to the Academic Challenge box in the office.
  3. Place it in the Academic Challenge box in the office.

Program Ideas:   I have not used all of these programs; please thoroughly investigate before you spend any money.    Some listed are free.
